Research Consultants lead projects investigating market trends and intractable challenges facing executives across the health care industry. Consultants manage multiple projects conducted by analysts and are also responsible for their own research deliverables across the year.
Based on their experience and Advisory Board’s business needs, Consultants lead research within a specific health care market (e.g., health systems, payers, employers, life sciences). This role specifically focuses on understanding and communicating trends within the pharmacy and diagnostics market segments. You will help stakeholders across the health care industry understand how players such as pharmacy benefit managers and trends like at-home labs impact health care now and in the future.
You’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Washington, D.C. preferred.
Primary Responsibilities:
Research Leadership
- Drive toward thought-provoking insights by pushing past conventional wisdom and surfacing potential blind spots
- Lead innovation in research methodology and delivery (including experimentation with written deliverables, virtual presentations, and in-person presentations)
- Explore new ways to ensure content and experiences appeal to cross-industry audiences (including sponsorship, networking opportunities)
- Generate insights and strategic recommendations for industry executives based on research and analysis
- Conduct quantitative analysis and qualitative stakeholder interviews
Project Management
- Lead multiple original research projects simultaneously
- Provide analytical direction to team members
- Create and manage production of content
People Management
- Directly manage one or more team members
- Provide direct coaching/professional development to team and support broader efforts toward staff engagement and retention
- Set team goals and define roles clearly through workload management and delegation
- Include staff in decision-making processes and empower staff to make decisions independently
Collaboration
- Partner with peer research leaders to strengthen insights, conduct data analyses, and scale innovation
- Collaborate with leaders across Advisory Board on content planning, event strategy, and product innovation with an eye toward business impact

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of professional work experience
- Experience leading research studies and publications
- Demonstrated depth of health care knowledge and expertise
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with life sciences, pharmacy, or diagnostics

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
