Job description
Manage an academic research lab, facilitate and conduct independent research. Research areas Human-Computer Interaction, Ubiquitous and Assistive technology. Conducting research will be an integral part of the position. The position will assist and supervise undergraduate students with their projects and will pursue their own research project. The research will involve methods such as literature review, design thinking, user studies. There will be significant interaction with undergraduate students and with other faculty and staff.
Responsibilities
Conduct independent research related to supervisor’s principal research. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Carry out experiments related to the research.
- Work with and oversee undergraduate students and assist in delegating tasks.
- Train and advise undergraduate research students.
- User studies, experimental design, collecting and analyzing data.
Manage general lab operations. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Order, receive and track materials and inventory.
- Other administrative tasks as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree and previous experience in an appropriate field with preference given to candidates with a degree or equivalent coursework in Human-Computer Interaction or related field
- Previous experience in user experience practices
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Willingness to acquire new skills
- Experience in data analysis
- Willingness to acquire new skills
