POSITION SUMMARY
The Representative Payee Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and coordinating financial benefits for individuals whose representative payee is the agency. Ensure individuals maintain benefits such as Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Medicaid and Medicare coverage, and Food Stamps.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare annual recertifications for Medicaid, Social Security and SNAP benefits.
- Prepare monthly personal allowance payments for individuals.
- Research and resolve Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security eligibility issues.
- Maintain and track individual spend down requirements to ensure no loss of insurance coverage.
- Facilitate the application and/or recertification of representative payee for individuals.
- Monitor and maintain cash balances and house ledgers, including bank accounts for individuals in order to not jeopardize Social Security and/or Medicaid eligibility.
- Serve as liaison between the business Office and program department relating to individual’s resources and eligibility issues.
- Monitor SNAP (food stamp) benefits, order replacement cards, troubleshoot as necessary.
- Coordinate the payment of individuals medical bills that are not covered under private insurance.
- Monitor and ensure the monthly benefit for individuals match the benefit award letters.
- Train program staff on individual benefit resources and personal allowances.
- Uphold agency mission, vision and philosophy statements at all times.
- Ensure a safe working environment by following all safety guidelines and immediately reporting hazards.
Minimum qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Business, preferred. HS diploma and 1 yr. related experience required.
- Experience within a human services organization preferred.
- Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Extensive knowledge in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
