Candidates will automatically be declined.**Only submit profile who can work schedule in posting and interested in the unit.?Join the #1 hospital in Wisconsin!We are seeking aRegistered Nurseto join Acute Medical and Progressive Care (D6/5): Nurses on this 29-bed unit are skilled in providing comprehensive and specialized nursing care to the acutely ill adult patient who may present with multiple comorbidities, a variety of medical diagnoses, and hemodynamic instability. Specialty populations cared for on the unit include patients with a diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis (CF), pulmonary hypertension (PH), and post lung transplant. Nurses are highly competent, adaptable, and trained to meet the needs of both general care and intermediate care (IMC) patients, with 15 beds dedicated to general care and 14 to IMC. Nurses on D6/5 excel at communicating and collaborating with care teams to promote smooth transitions amongst levels of care, including those patients who transition from critical care units to the acute progressive care unit. Critical thinking, problem solving, and a desire to provide high quality care in a learning environment is important, and there are many opportunities throughout the year on D6/5 to attain new knowledge and grow your nursing practice. Nurses on D6/5 are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and encouraged to pursue specialty certification in Medical-Surgical and/or Progressive Care Nursing.Minimum Requirements:Facility Requirement:Traveler must have permanent address outside50mile radius of Madison (address must be included in traveler's profile).Experience:IMC experience required.ICU ??experienceconsider but must be willing to work with non-ICU patient.Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within last 3 years.Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma center or similar size hospital.Successfully completed traveler assignment (13 weeks).Licensure and Certification:Traveler must have WI nursing license or compact license from their permanent address state.*Will consider candidates without WI or compact license but must apply for a temporary license under the Wisconsin Act 10 order within 48 hours of offer accepted and provide screenshot of application submitted. Traveler must complete this requirement prior to being cleared to start.BLS/ACLS must be certified through American Heart Association ONLYReferenceNeeds 2 references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only).TelemetryTraveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Will be required to pass Telemetry test upon arrival at UWHC. (Not for clinic positions)Telemetry Competency: (Please note the Inpatient/Outpatient OR RN s do not complete telemetry)All agency travelers must demonstrate competency in interpretation of cardiac rhythms before your orientation begins. Previous completion of PALS, ACLS, etc. is not acceptable as a demonstration of this competency. Instead, you will be expected to satisfactorily complete a 20 question test which consists of multiple choice questions and write-in rhythm identification. You must pass with an overall score of 80% and correctly identify 100% of the 4 life-threatening rhythms for your patient population (adult or peds). If there are any questions, please refer to earlier communication from UWHC to your agency.FloatingTravelers are the first to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs.
