Position Highlights:
Cardiovascular Surgery and Advanced Heart Failure ICU is a 28 bed unit
Onboarding provided by Orientation Coordinator and experienced preceptors
Professional development opportunities available through participation in shared governance, house-wide and unit-based committees, precepting/teaching, process improvement projects and clinical ladder advancement
Provides critical care for a variety of Cardiosciences patients, including: advanced heart failure, immediate post-operative CABGs, heart valve repair/replacement, LVAD and ECMO
Position Responsibilities:
Establishes a caring, therapeutic relationship with patients and families through effective communication, acknowledgement of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes
Utilizes competent assessment skills to holistically evaluate the physical and psychosocial needs of patients and families
Consistently demonstrates safe and effective use of all medical devices in the delivery of patient care
Assesses patient safety needs consistently and implements appropriate strategies (fall precautions, infection control, and suicide risk patient identification) to minimize risk
Individualizes teaching plans based on a thorough assessment to meet the learning needs of patients and families
Demonstrates the ability to provide education to staff and students on the unit
Position Qualifications Include:
Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse Licensure required
BSN (or higher) required
BLS required
ACLS preferred
Critical Care nursing experience preferred
National nursing certification preferred
