Overview:

Summary of Responsibilities:


Primarily responsible for recruiting Brokerage General Agencies (BGAs), Producing General Agents/Agencies (PGAs), and related producers in conjunction with duties of Recruiting Coordinator. Serves as the product/marketing subject matter expert, trainer and knowledge dispenser to the region including BGAs, PGAs, Internal Marketers, Producers and sub-producers. These responsibilities include training and support for national account affiliates in the territory. Achieves life and annuity sales results in assigned territory, working closely with the Internal Wholesalers (IWS). Focuses on sales and productivity results of new and existing producers. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible to independently make a broad range of critical decisions, escalating to executive-level associates only when appropriate.

  • Recruits new BGAs, PGAs, and Agencies in assigned territory in conjunction with the duties of the Recruiting Coordinator developing an effective team approach to region recruiting.

  • Provides orientation, product training and direct sales support to new and existing BGAs, PGAs and producers in assigned territory or as directed when needed.

  • Works closely with the Internal Wholesaler to solicit and promote the sale of all CLIC products with new and existing agencies and producers.

  • Develops close coordination and working relationship with Recruiting Coordinator and Internal Wholesaler in executing field activities.

  • Makes proactive outbound support calls to BGAs, PGAs, Producers and sub-producers. Includes follow-up on sales calls, identifying new sales opportunities and promoting new and existing products.

  • Makes reactive outbound support calls to region producers. Includes following up on sales calls and answering in-depth and moderately complex questions on products.

  • Develops and utilizes advanced product and operational procedure knowledge. Product knowledge includes all CLIC products, embedded sales-driven features, product introductions and enhancements/updates. Operational procedures knowledge includes new business submissions, underwriting and issue procedures, commissions and product availability.

  • Offers input to CLIC on ways to improve product sales and service. Maintains a high level of awareness of competitors and shares timely information with Internal Wholesaler, Recruiting Coordinator and home office staff on competitors’ products and industry trends.

  • Participates in the interview process for hiring Recruiting Coordinator, Internal and/or External Wholesalers when requested.

  • Manages expenses prudently within assigned expense parameters.

  • Provides regional recruiting, sales, activity and expense reports to management.

  • Keeps up with the trends in our business, networking and being aware of our competitors’ strategies and major operational initiatives.

  • Develops and executes strategic initiatives in our operation to give us a competitive edge.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications:

Selection Criteria:


  • Demonstrated sales and/or recruiting experience in the life insurance industry.

  • Demonstrated wholesaling experience (internal or external) or related sales support experience in the large agency and independent producer space.

  • Proven advanced knowledge of fixed and fixed indexed life insurance and annuity products.

  • Proven knowledge of advanced sales and marketing concepts.

  • Demonstrated ability to team effectively with multiple home office areas including underwriting, new business and related teams for region-level sales and service outcomes.

  • Cite examples of effective negotiating and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

  • Cite examples of achieving results while working under pressure with high-volume workloads and deadlines.

  • Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying problems and providing effective resolutions.

  • Cite examples demonstrating effectiveness in grasping new concepts and procedures.

  • Must be able to cite examples of self-motivation and experience working under limited supervision.


Work Setting:


  • This position travels, works in various office settings, and requires being in a stationary position for long periods of time frequently while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings. Position requires frequent movement of wrist, hands and fingers for continuous computer work.

  • Ability to drive personal vehicle over relatively large geography which will include daily and overnight travel up to 50-75%.


Educational Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or commensurate industry experience.


Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:


  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Working knowledge of producer portal, mobile capabilities and product illustration software.

  • Dedicated use of CRM platform for region management, sales and marketing, reporting and related functions.


Certifications & Licenses:


  • State insurance license.

  • CFP, CLU and ChFC or commensurate industry experience.

  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

  • Maintain appropriate vehicle insurance.


Position Demands:


  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.

  • Extensive travel required.

The final determination on base pay for any position will be determined based on multiple factors to ensure pay equity within the organization. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives whereby total compensation may exceed base salary depending on individual performance.
