GFL Environmental is looking for a dynamic, operationally minded, strategic thinker to join our team in the role of Regional Human Resources Business Partner. The successful candidate will be relied upon to lead our GFL employment programs across the Liquid Waste US region. This role will touch on a broad range of functions including employee relations, recruitment and retention, and learning and development. The ideal candidate thrives on getting out into the field to engage with our staff, but also has the strategic vision and drive to develop and implement meaningful initiatives for the business. This senior level business partner will have excellent interpersonal skills, be driven by details and possess a strong knowledge of human resource practices. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of employee relations for the division including performance management, termination, conflict resolution, and employee investigations
  • Travel to branch locations to meet with staff and management and gain insight into the different needs of each site to develop relevant employee engagement programs
  • Partner with our HR Corporate Support Services to ensure alignment between divisional needs and corporate HR programs
  • Partner with senior operational leadership to provide guidance on strategic HR programs and initiatives
  • Work with our leadership to understand and assess our employees and develop training and development programs, career pathing and succession planning
  • Develop and communicate reporting metrics to our operational leadership on KPI’s such as hiring, turnover and employee demographics
  • Provide guidance to one or more HR Generalists on all employment issues relating to branch and division managers and employees

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in a Human Resources function
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in a Human Resources management role
  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or related field of study
  • Certification in Human Resources (PHR or SPHR) or master’s degree in HR, preferred
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws, codes, rules and regulations including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, REDA, Wage & Hour and other laws relating to employment.
  • Generalist knowledge with broad background of employment, employee relations, benefits and training
  • Able to write correspondence to employees, management and vendors via internal and external memorandums and reports
  • Able to follow instructions and work under limited supervision and heavy deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with attention to detail
  • Able to multi-task and supervise others in remote locations and provide positive leadership and guidance
  • Authorized to work and travel as required within the US (60-70% travel)
