Job Description:

Inspect product per quality requirements to ensure compliance and conformance prior to shipping to customers. Inspection is completed using hand tools, and visual inspection of the products for dents, damage, paint chips and scratches. Paperwork verification is also required.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform inspection of products and parts. This activity may include test and evaluation activities identified by Quality Engineering.
  • This job primarily includes but is not limited to mechanical measuring, part identification, visual inspection.
  • Inspecting solder per IPC J-STD-001 of SMT components & mechanical parts on receiving, subassembly's, assemblies and end products using microscopes, micrometers, calipers, and scales, and visual inspection.
  • Verifies work performed in accordance with routing sheets, specifications, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to ensure proper assembly, dimensions and perform Final Inspection of hardware to ensure compliance with drawing.
  • Prepare accurate discrepancy documents and inspection reports and maintain inspection data.
  • Perform incoming and final visual inspection of items to be sent to stock. This activity may require the lifting of packages weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Process nonconforming product to Material Review Board. This activity may involve the re-inspection of product once MRB actions are complete, and material is presented for inspection and stores.
  • Maintain documentation of all inspection activity.
  • Reviewing First Article Inspection records submitted from suppliers and internally.
  • Processing stock purge requests. This involves coordinating the gathering of all stock and Work In-Process materials for items identified by Quality Engineering and their subsequent inspection.
  • Ability to lift packages weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • This position will be subjected to random drug testing.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent and minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience, preferably in Aerospace/avionics, or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree and 0-2 years relevant experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in IPC J-STD-001 & Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) handling controls and performing solder inspection of circuit board assemblies.
  • Proficient in the use of inspection tools (i.e., height gauges, calipers, and microscopes).
  • Demonstrated ability to work from blueprints, drawings, engineering documents, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Must be able to determine hardware compliance using specifications and instructions.
  • Additional manufacturing or industry certifications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
