At South Georgia Pecan Company we rely on a meticulous Accounting and Inventory system to drive business forward. Our Logistics Department keeps that system running smoothly by managing Material and Supply Purchases within our Financial software as well as Inventory software. We are searching for a skilled Purchasing Specialist to join our Logistics Team to not only purchase requisitioned materials, but request quotes, communicate with current vendors as well as future vendors on purchasing needs. This position requires a detail oriented, efficient, and skilled person. This position requires teamwork not only within the logistics department, but also other departments throughout the company. The Purchasing/Receiving specialist will have both day-to-day and ongoing impact on financial transactions regarding cash flow as well as inventory.
Objectives of this Role
· Support the company in optimizing Purchases and Inventory within the framework of our company guidelines.
· Strengthen and grow relationships with vendors and suppliers
· Assist in streamlining and improving the Purchasing and Inventory systems working directly with other department personnel to achieve a high level of detailed processes and procedures.
· Exercise integrity and confidentiality with our contracted vendors as well as potential new vendors
· Comply with company policy on State, Local and Federal tax laws and procedures.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
· Review requisitions for materials as well as inventory restock
· Perform Purchase Order data entry as well as Purchase receipts for delivered materials and supplies. Maintaining an accurate inventory in both our financial system as well as our inventory system.
·Reconcile purchased receipts with open and/or backordered materials
Once received, turn in all paperwork the the accounting department for vendor payments.
· Assist senior financial officers as needed
· Scan and index documents with supporting documentation to electronic library
Skills and Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Understanding basic principles of purchasing, inventory and accounting
· Superb time management and detail
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office
· Ability to keep company and partner confidences
Preferred Qualifications
· An associate degree
· Strong mathematical skills
· Prior experience in Purchasing/Inventory Control
· Experience with inventory software and online platforms
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
