Public Works Director

The Town of Spindale is located in the foothills of Western North Carolina and we are currently looking for a Public Works Director to lead a dynamic team in making Spindale a wonderful place to live, work and play. Spindale is centrally located between Asheville and Charlotte as well as Spartanburg and Hickory.

Our Public Works Director is responsible for supervising and participating in the work of the Department, including the maintenance and repair of sewer lines. In addition to the responsibility of the sewer system, you will have a seasoned crew of 12 to perform sewer line maintenance, residential and commercial trash and yard waste collection, street maintenance and maintenance and repair of all equipment and vehicles used in the course of the work day.

Administrative tasks are also a part of the job to ensure work is performed safely and within guidelines established by the Town and OSHA regulations; training employees on equipment and work safety practices; personnel and budget management. Graduation from a community college with a degree in engineering technology, construction management, business or related field and experience of a progressively responsible nature in public works and/or utilities management or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid NC driver's license and possession of a wastewater collection system operator certification grade II. Salary range is $62,000-87,177 DOE.
