Job description
Under the direction of the VP, Finance, the Project Specialist provides support and coordination on project assignments from initiation through delivery and monitors action items, issues, and risks throughout the assignment on a variety of Tribal Finance and related functional projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports project managers to effectively prioritize and execute tasks through the project life cycle.
  • Completes assigned project tasks such as scheduling meetings, creating agendas, documenting, and distributing meeting minutes, communicating with stakeholders.
  • Facilitates the resolution of project issues and risks by providing alternative solutions on project delays, change orders, cost increases or any changes outside of the scope of work.
  • Maintains input data and project charter from multiple sources reflecting changes made by any/all departments.
  • Coordinates with stakeholder groups to define metrics, reporting requirements, and needed analysis.
  • Report progress and issues to management and stakeholders through dashboards, presentations, and other communications.
  • Assists with software and program administration duties for the purpose of maintaining technology platforms.
  • Performs research on issues and participates in the recommendation and risk mitigation process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • Three (3) years’ relevant project coordination or administrative experience required.
  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft productivity applications or equivalent productivity suite required.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to execute projects with autonomy and close attention to detail.
  • Ability to support multiple projects concurrently.
  • Must possess analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.
