Position Responsibilities

The Virginia Center on Aging seeks applicants for an Adjunct Project Specialist/Aging and Wellness Promotion. The chief purpose of this position is to build strong relationships between VCU and community organizations, religious institutions, and other groups that serve older adults and provide inclusive wellness programming to older adults.

General Responsibilities
  • Support the Department’s approach to addressing health, well-being, and equity for elders
  • Lead the implementation of an inclusive and equitable wellness promotion program to enhance overall well-being for older adults. The position will use evidence-informed strategies to promote wellness through collaborations, programs/events, educational campaigns, and initiatives aligned with the department and the university’s mission as outlined in Quest 2028.
  • Maintain and complete a plan of work, program outcomes, impact statements and achievements, and other documentation needed to assess wellness program effectiveness.

Required Qualifications
  • Passion for serving people and for the mission of the department
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Experience in program planning, development, and evaluation
  • Experience conducting needs assessments
  • Experience building relationships and partnerships with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead virtual events
  • Must be available some evenings and weekends
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Wellness Promotion
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience creating and implementing marketing campaigns
