The Vertex Mobile Sensors program performs Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for a ship based mobile platform with complex multi-mission radar/communication systems which have an elaborate command & control computing structure, along with communication interfaces and support sub-systems. These systems and the program assigned employees, which include bargaining members (union), are tasked to primarily operate in the Pacific Command's (PACOM) Area of Responsibility (AOR). Our program ensures the COBRA KING (CK) radar and communication systems are Fully Mission Capable (FMC) 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, and capable of supporting mission operations on short-notice.
Vertex Mobile Sensors Management Office (MSMO) is seeking a Communications Lead to assist the Program Management Team in performance of the day-to-day program execution, with associated activities involving USNS Howard O. Lorenzen communication suite and other projects assigned to the benefit of the MSMO. This role will primarily work at the program office located on Patrick Space Force Base (PSFB), FL facilitating collaboration with the Key Subcontractors, Customer Team, Program and Functional Support team members.
This position will be required to conduct occasional travel
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible as key member of the MSMO team in the execution of the contract per the Government Performance Work Statement (PWS) and partnering with program stakeholders to maintain a positive/productive relationship.
- Responsible as key member of the MSMO team, in proposing and overseeing the Communication efforts which include leading stakeholders with proposals (if required) and the development of Statement of Work (SSOW) requirements.
- Participate in and/or provide productive input toward various program initiatives to improve performance of the contract/team.
- Remain cognizant of the day-to-day tactical issues, ensuring the Mobile Sensor team is proactively achieving ALL performance measures.
- Responsible for conducting monthly ship communication meetings with the Customer and stakeholders.
- Overall responsibility for ship communications projects, system upgrades and equipment sparing, sustainment. Equipment includes, but not limited to: HF, UHF/VHF, SATCOM, WSC-6(v)9, CBSP, LOS and other Navy communication systems.
- Quality monitoring and documentation of activities to ensure consistency of processes and procedures in execution and/or correction requirements.
- Ensure that coordination and cooperation with other Customer Team is a program priority so that progress is successful in meeting the Customer’s strategic and tactical objectives.
- Focus on identifying and implementing strategic improvements and suggest solutions that are consistent with the Customer’s vision.
*Assisting the MSMO hiring team with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring *Other duties as assigned within the Mobile Sensors Management Office.
JOB QUALIFICTIONS:
**Active TOP SECRET clearance**
- Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills
- Leadership experience for a geographically diverse team
- Leadership and mentoring experience with proven results.
- Knowledge and experience with Company policies & procedures with emphasis on Naval communication equipment/requirements and front-line leadership.
Current U.S. Passport with minimum of 1 year prior to expiration and 3 blank pages
- Bachelor’s degree or 4-6 years of experience working vessel type communications equipment
- Requires theoretical to advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through University Degree combined with experience. Practical knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
- Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
