JOB SUMMARY:
Provides clinical and administrative supervision of MRCSB's Positive Alternative to Hospital (PATH) Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) to ensure the efficient, effective, and ethical delivery of services to individuals. Establishes, administers, and manages crisis stabilization services, providing services to identified individuals with mental illness, substance use and Developmental Disabilities (DD) crisis needs. Assist individuals to achieve and maintain community stability. Serves as the lead clinician for the PATH CSU and provides counseling, case management services, and crisis intervention and stabilization based on individual need and functional assessment. Establishes positive relations with families and community partners. Acts as a regional point person for CSBs in the development of youth crisis services and reporting in relation to the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) Crisis Response and Child Psychiatry Grant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the day-to-day clinical and administrative operations of the CSU, work in coordination with psychiatrist and nursing staff to ensure treatment needs are addressed, coordinate all clinical services, lead organizational and treatment planning meetings, evaluate the status of individuals and do appropriate planning and coordination of treatment activities to ensure immediate attention to changing needs. Work with program staff to create and maintain a therapeutic milieu.
- Act as the point of contact for regional CSBs in relation to the DBHDS Region III Crisis Response & Child Psychiatry Grant. Assist CSBs in developing an infrastructure that supports the regional efforts to support youth in crisis. Take an active role in coordinating services with other CSBs, local agencies, and private providers by offering consultation and education to increase awareness and understanding of services. This includes collaborating with CSBs in relation to DBHDS reports and requests.
- Supervise records management assuring compliance with agency policies, Medicaid, and other third party payment requirements. Responsible for monitoring any changes in regulations, licensure, or guidelines as related to program area and communicating this information to all providers of this service within Youth and Family Services.
- Provide training, support, and supervision as needed to program staff. Assist Coordinator of Clinical Services with hiring and training of new employees. Encourage opportunities for professional development and provide individual staff with ongoing feedback regarding performance, and monitor targeted billing units every month for all supervised staff. Complete annual performance evaluations for Youth and Family CSU staff. Provide training, support, and supervision as needed to program staff. Assist Coordinator of Clinical Services with hiring and training of new employees.
- Develop and maintain program procedures, and review and revise as necessary.
- Actively participate in meetings such as supervision, clinical staffings, business meetings, and committees as assigned; utilize these meetings for active problem solving and to enhance a team approach to decision making. Attend regional and state-wide meetings as needed to meet with other providers, obtain training, and promote services in the region.
- Provide after hours, holidays, and weekend supervision.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Assist Coordinator of Clinical Services in monitoring PATH CSU budgets and approvals of training or purchase of supplies.
- Assist Coordinator of Clinical Services in networking and collaborating with other agencies in the community's system of care and within DBHDS Region III.
- Performa other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive knowledge of mental disorders and substance abuse
- Skills in assessment and diagnosis
- Knowledge of counseling theories and practice utilized to treat mental illness and substance abuse
- Knowledge of a broad range of treatment modalities and development of treatment plans
- Oral and written communication skills
- Where applicable, knowledge of evaluation tools for psychological testing
- Strong clinical skills and experience providing treatment to persons with mental illness and substance addictions
- Supervisory and program management experience
- Knowledge of crisis intervention
CSU Lead - Sign On Bonus- $3,000.00
(Level 15) Master's Degree in a related Human Service area required with at least two (2) years of related experience; supervisory experience preferred. Eligibility for licensure required (LMHP-E)
OR
CSU Program Manager - Sign On Bonus- $5,000.00
(Level 16) Master's Degree in a related Human Services area required with at least two (2) years of related experience; supervisory experience preferred. Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) required
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability is acceptable.
