This position includes housing at Camp Harrison.

Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, the Teen Program Coordinator develop and supervise the Leaders in Training (LIT) and Gap Year programs, while also assisting directors with program delivery across all Camp Harrison programming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Under direction, facilitate the organization and management to develop best-in-class program quality and experience in all assigned areas, including LIT and Gap Year operations.
  • Lead strategies to ensure members and/or program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • Champion a culture that supports Christian Mission elements in programming.
  • Assist directors as needed with recruiting seasonal staff.
  • Assist directors as needed with effective promotion and for all camp programming.
  • Lead through the YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith. Model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Support development and management of annual budget within assigned areas. Demonstrate sound fiscal management skills.
  • Act as a resource and partner to assist with delivery of all programs as necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in recreation related field or minimum 4 years’ related work experience.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience in camping or related industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the camp industry standards (American Camp Association)
  • Two years of successful program development, management, and evaluation.
  • Ability to successfully communicate with and evaluate staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute short-term and long-term plans with a high degree of quality, effectiveness, and professionalism.
  • Highly developed organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and a commitment to developing, inspiring and motivating a staff team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills in creating and sustaining a culture of trust and program excellence.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate initiative, sound judgment and independent motivation and decision-making.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Computer skills: Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as the ability to become proficient in Association-specific applications
  • Ability to obtain certification in CPR/AED and First Aid.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ongoing professional development and relevant certifications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work a 40-hour week with irregular work hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor), while maintaining alertness for extended periods of time.
  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
  • Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $31,200.00 - $37,627.00 per year
