Summary of Duties:
The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) is a federally funded program on a 5-year renewable grant cycle with the goal to recruit and help migrant and seasonal farmworkers obtain a GED and pursue higher education or upgraded employment. The Program Coordinator serves as the primary point of the operational and administrative contact for internal and external constituencies; coordinates administrative functions with other departments and units; is responsible for record and budget management and providing administrative support for staff; and acts as a liaison for the program. The Program Coordinator will, in addition to other duties: analyze, manage, maintain, and monitor operational, grant, and contract budgets within program parameters; create and maintain financial and fiscal reports; reconcile, troubleshoot transfer, and re-budget funds as needed; complete all financial transactions, including, but not limited to, purchasing, payroll, travel, interdepartmental transactions, and participant stipends; establish and maintain records and files for all participants, record statistical information; verify receipt of eligibility materials, applicant packets, and academic records; help organize and execute events for potential and current participants; help maintain the program directives as set out by the federal grant; abide with federal and state policy; and advise students, staff and the general public on HEP program initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.
- Two years of full-time experience working with student groups and/or programs or equivalent experience.
- Experience performing business/office duties.
- Service-oriented experience (may or may not be combined with office experience).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse students and demonstrated experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Comes from a similar background of the target population (MSFWs).
- Higher Education experience.
- Experience with Washington State University business policies and procedures and/or federal grant regulations, especially with the College Assistance Migrant Program/High School Equivalency Program, or similar access programs.
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Word, Publisher, Access, Excel, and Outlook, including calendar capabilities of Outlook.
- Experience performing database management, financial record keeping, budget monitoring, records maintenance, and office operations coordination.
- Bilingual and bicultural in Spanish.

Monthly Salary:
Range 38 | $3,096 - $4,117 (A-M) | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
