Responsibilities:

Summary

Under the direction of the Production Manager, the working Production Supervisor oversees all functions and operations related to the assigned area(s) of production operations, serves as a technical resource to all employees, and works with management in addressing technical issues related to equipment set-up, operation, tooling, inspection techniques and functions as a machinist to support production demand requirements. Champions continuous improvement in all assigned areas to achieve operational excellence. Oversees training and development of all direct reports to ensure process execution. Responsible for coordinating equipment set-up, operation, and maintenance to produce products to customer requirements through the direct supervision of production personnel and collaboration with other supporting cross-functional teams.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans, organize, directs, and controls workflow in each of the assigned work center(s) within Auburn’s site manufacturing area. Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results and opportunities during the weekly ops meetings.
  • Accomplishes results by communicating to their team job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Will maintain an updated training matrix to ensure knowledge management and review quarterly with personnel development plans as applicable.
  • Maintains a clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on using all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established company policies and procedures.
  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action.
  • Collaborates with Planning to ensure ERP work centers are accurate and maintains KPIs to monitor production performance. Will participate in GEMBA walks with the management team in reviewing results. Any metric behind the plan must have action and a plan to recover.
  • Works towards making sure all company assets are being used efficiently and correctly.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to periodically develop a plan for manufacturing efficiencies, actions, and plans for the Production Manager.
  • Evaluate each manufacturing station to ensure maximum efficiency within the assigned work area(s).
  • Assures and implements an inspection point within their work area to ensure quality parts are manufactured.
  • Completes all paper or computer-based reporting on jobs or parts as required in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Works with Engineering staff to design new tooling for new and existing products.
  • Develops and document manufacturing processes and procedures for new or newly revised product designs.
  • Supports production demand requirements functioning as a machinist in addition to primary responsibilities.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Leads the department in safety toolbox talks weekly to maintain a proactive and effective safety impact.
  • Leads production operations meeting within their group(s) during daily accountability meetings (DGAs) to review safety, quality opportunities, on-time delivery, and any status to quarterly targets.
  • Maintains inventory and status of all work orders within their workstations.
  • Identifies and relates repair needs to Maintenance/Supervisors.
  • Initiates and implements Continuous Improvement actions in support of Company and department goals such as set-up time reduction, Lean Manufacturing, 6-S, etc.
  • Treats all other employees with dignity and respect; communicates positively and constructively to solve problems in a team environment.
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures.

Performs any physical inventory department is responsible for, addresses variances as needed, and maintains department min/max levels, Kanbans, and safety stocks.

Qualifications & Essential Functions

  • Knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and safe working practices.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Knowledge of equipment operation techniques
  • Knowledge of standard measuring techniques and instruments.
  • Knowledge of Morgan Advanced Materials Quality Systems and Policy and ISO Requirements.
  • Knowledge of adhesives & mechanical fasteners/components as needed.
  • Knowledge of using small hand tools – brushes, spray guns, cutters, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.
  • Knowledge of set-up and running the most complex, multi-level assemblies, including fixture and tooling design.
  • General user knowledge of manufacturing management software.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills helpful.
Essential Functions
  • Interprets product blueprints, work instructions, and other written documents to meet customer and quality specifications.
  • Frequently talks to and listens to co-workers, supervisors, visitors, customers, and suppliers regarding product status and issues. Communication is face to face, via telephone or video conference.
  • Maintains a friendly, stable, cooperative demeanor.
  • Routinely checks equipment for effectiveness by observing operations, viewing monitors, and distinguishing changes in equipment noise.
  • Constantly monitors product quality through visual and tactile inspection of parts.
  • Uses required personal protective safety equipment, including eye and hearing protection (as required).
  • Frequently provides input for work instructions and completes forms or other paperwork to support production and quality requirements.
  • Frequently enters or retrieves data from a computer station requiring the operation of a keyboard, mouse, bar coding wand, and use of a monitor.
  • Constantly evaluates and reprioritizes tasks to meet changing production and customer needs.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software, or hardware controlled by US export laws. Hired employees must prove they are U.S. Persons as defined by 22 CFR §120.15.
  • This position requires the use of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Education and/or Experience

2 -5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus 3 years supervisory or leadership experience in related businesses or industries.

Working Environment

  • Monday – Friday (40 hours per week)
  • Overtime and holidays as business need requires

Qualifications:
Pay Range: $32 to $34 plus 10% Shift Differential (DOE)
