Title: 3rd Shift Production Supervisor

Classification/Job Grade: Salary - $65,000 - $80,000 annually

Location: Battle Creek, MI

Supervised by: Manager

Job Summary:

Prairie Farms Dairy, Battle Creek operates as a dairy manufacturing plant and distribution center that covers the whole state of MI and some of the surrounding states. We make dairy products that are then distributed to retail outlets, warehouses, hospitals, correctional facilities, retirement homes, food service warehouses, schools and colleges throughout Michigan.

Prairie Farms is looking for an experienced Production Supervisor. The perfect candidate is a good communicator, organized and leads by example. The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of employees that involve plant operations and compliance with food and safety requirements.

Our current opportunity is a 3rd shift opportunity from 7pm-7am. Every other weekend off! We also have an opening for 5 days a week, 8 hour shifts, whichever is best suited for the candidate.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of their shift; including but not limited to:
    • Hold team accountable to company policies: Ex. Attendance and Safety-First mentality
    • Ensure all monthly safety training is completed
  • Ensure proper execution and implementation of all policies, procedures with regard to food and safety quality requirements
  • Train and evaluate production staff to ensure equipment is effectively running at all times
  • Assists and maintain appropriate inventory levels and product loss control
  • Schedule and manage production team members within labor and budget, while meeting production demands
  • Ensure compliance with safety codes, policies, and procedures of the Company and standards established by Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
  • Ensure proper cleaning of equipment is being performed during set down times and product changeovers
  • Follows and enforces all company policies and procedures regarding GMPs, SOPs and Quality standards
  • Maintains an air of professionalism and communicates effectively
  • Demonstrates problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Ability to prioritize and follow up on previous activities

Basic Qualifications:

  • DSD experience is required
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma preferred (GED)
  • 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience in production operations
  • 2 years of experience with Microsoft Excel
  • 2 years analyzing data associated with processes, identifying opportunities, and providing recommendations for improvement
  • 2 years of experience with Occupational Safety Regulations
  • Computer literacy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer experience working in a Perishable food industry
  • Preferred experience working in Dairy industry.
