JOB TITLE:
Production Planner/Scheduler
REPORTS TO:
Manager, Production Operations
PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for managing manufacturing work orders, planning, scheduling and ERP activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate and manage the production planning and scheduling for the manufacture of components and assemblies within the manufacturing facility. Working closely with the Manager, Production Operations and Engineering department, make sound business decisions that positively impact the ability to meet the needs of our customers while satisfying quality, inventory, cost and delivery requirements. Requires exceptional interpersonal skills and strong ERP knowledge and system planning skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Working with production/machine shop, address issues which affect quality, inventory, cost and delivery requirements/performance.
· Plan, Review and Evaluate Work Orders within ERP.
· Measure and report performance (inventory and on time delivery). Assess poor performing cells and take appropriate action in conjunction with Operations Management.
· Manage work order backlog, status and maintenance for all manufacturing areas.
· Monitors daily order entry reports and communicates scheduling problems and concerns to Management.
· Facilitate daily production meetings.
· Issues daily production schedules. Adjusts and expedites as required to achieve required customer service commits.
· Assist management in resolving problems concerning shipments, shortages, PO changes and cancellation of orders.
· Participates actively in department and cross functional meetings.
· Participates in new Sales Order launch reviews and schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
· Develop and maintain capacity planning profiles and manage shop for level loading of resources.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Broad and in-depth manufacturing knowledge for both low mix-high volume and high mix-low volume manufacturing.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills required with the ability to work well with all levels of employees and internal departments to exceed our customer’s expectations while meeting our business goals
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills involving a diverse workforce.
- Six Sigma green belt or higher, OSR experience a plus.
- Must be proficient in MS Office applications
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident required.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years hands on experience planning and scheduling a manufacturing facility.
- Excellent people management skills.
