Job Summary
The Supply Chain Buyer for Sauer Brands, Inc. is responsible for tactically sourcing materials to support manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be able to perform procurement utilizing lean manufacturing principles, optimize inventory levels, and identify cost-savings opportunities within the Supply Chain. As a Sauer Brands team member, the candidate will execute special projects, initiatives as assigned, accept safety as a condition, and support factory operations. Furthermore, the candidate must embrace and support the building of the Sauer Brands Recipe.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Tactically procure raw materials to support factory operations
- Generate purchase orders taking into consideration production schedules, planning, suppliers’ price break points and storage restrictions.
- Expedite purchase orders as necessary to meet production schedule
- Communication of order status exceptions
- Monitor suppliers’ performance and conduct regular meetings to ensure supply plan is being met.
- Visit suppliers’ facilities as needed to qualify them as new sources and assist in the resolution of production, quality and/or delivery problems.
- Assist Supply Chain Manager in maintaining good supplier relations.
- Strategically identify cost savings opportunities
- Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best source consistent with cost, quality and delivery requirement.
- Demonstrate excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Identify waste and seek opportunities for cost reduction in the supply chain (examples optimize freight or order size)
- Conduct cost analysis on various aspects of the supply chain.
- Utilize established processes and procedures, while working to identify methods for improvement.
- Work cross-functionally with R&D to source new and develop new materials/recipes
- Work cross-functionally with the Packaging Engineering Team and other supply chain staff
- Manage and control inventory
- Optimize inventory following lean manufacturing principles.
- Maintain item attributes to align with planning and company objectives
- Participate in physical inventory events (generally yearend)

- 1-5 Years of experience in Planning (ERP) and Procurement Preferred

- Documented history of making improvements in assigned work area/responsibilities
