Position Title: Manufacturing Process Engineer

Location: Ravenna, OH (Onsite)

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Process Engineer, reporting to the Production Manager, is responsible for planning, developing, designing, and coordinating manufacturing improvements at the ABS Manufacturing plant in Ravenna, Ohio. This includes evaluating manufacturing processes to improve product quality, process efficiencies, and machine reliability, improving work flow, validating implemented improvements, and conducting failure analyses.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide support to manufacturing operations, including mixing, extrusion, packaging, and shipment of completed product.

• Assist in achieving manufacturing objectives and provide technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing operations.

• Monitor manufacturing variances to identify problem-solving and improvement opportunities.

• Provide timely resolution of product, process, and equipment problems through creative short- and long-term solutions.

• Assist in development, testing, and improvement of manufacturing processes for new and existing products to optimize operation, reduce product variability, and increase yields.

• Assist in planning, coordinating, developing, and executing test protocols, experiments, process characterization, and process validations (IQ, OQ, PQ) for new and revised products and processes.

• Develop machine specifications, identify and evaluate suppliers, procure, install, and debug equipment from outside suppliers for general manufacturing and secondary processes.

• Assist in writing and updating standard operating procedures and other required documentation.

• Consult or provide technical advice to team members on product and process issues.

• Assist in organizing and ordering inventory, and maintaining manufacturing supplies and materials.

• Assist in maintenance and upkeep of manufacturing equipment in accordance with LGCOP company policies.

• Demonstrate commitment to ISO 9001 standard in all business practices, including good documentation practices and ongoing training activities.

• Identify and report nonconformances as encountered, and maintain good manufacturing practices with accurate and timely documentation.

• Periodically present manufacturing progress and project activities to stakeholders.

• Work with LGCOP team to determine project goals, plan, and execute against set project goals independently while maintaining communication with manager.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

• Education/Certification: B.Sc. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Polymer, or Plastics Engineering, or other related engineering discipline.

• Experience in a plastics manufacturing environment, including extrusion, injection, compression, hot embossing, and compounding.

• Working knowledge and application of concepts such as polymer material properties, plastic molding, surface treatment and functionalization, heat transfer, and other related topics.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Strong initiative, self-directed, and proactive in taking action on opportunities.

• Proven problem-solving ability, good documentation skills, and adherence to good manufacturing practices.

• Demonstrated knowledge of 3D modeling software and ability to model moderately complex parts is desired.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year

Experience:

• Plastics extrusion: 5 years (Preferred)
• Twin Screw Extrusion: 1 year (Preferred)
• Thermoplastics, Rubber or Polymer: 5 years (Preferred)
• Process engineering: 5 years (Preferred)
