We are currently seeking a Process Engineer at our melting and casting facility in Brackenridge, PA. This position is in our technical ladder reporting to the Manager, Operations

Responsibilities:

  • Establish relationships between process characteristics and key output variables.
  • Assist the Quality Department with the development and improvement of standard operating procedures and temporary work instructions.
  • Identify, justify, and implement cost savings projects.
  • Participate on Capital Project teams as needed.
  • Daily and direct interaction with production personnel involving process related issues and potential improvements.

Requirements:

  • BS in Materials/Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office - (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to adapt to company and job related systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with internal and external customers at all levels.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems effectively.
  • Ability to lead, train and be a team player while following all company policies, union contracts and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently with high motivation and organizational capabilities.
  • Excellent mathematical reasoning abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in an engineering or science discipline.
  • Previous experience working in a steelmaking / continuous casting facility, and especially with the Argon-Oxygen Decarburization (AOD) process
  • Familiarity with computer-based process models and optimization techniques.
  • A working knowledge of the thermodynamics and kinetics of liquid steel/slag systems, and a fundamental understanding of metal solidification.
