Job description
Maxar is currently seeking a Principal Flight Software Engineer with embedded experience to join our team in Westminster, CO or San Jose, CA or Remote. In this role, you will work on a challenging project to launch the Power Propulsion Element to the moon or work on a new product line.

Your Project: In this role, you will be responsible for applying advanced technical skillsets with C/C++ for embedded systems. Your primary responsibility will be to generate code, but you will also be intimately involved in design, testing, debugging, integrating, and operational testing.

What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):

Develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

Develop and maintain code, and integrate software components into a fully-functional software system, specifically for Command and Data Handling, Thermal, Battery and Fault Detections and Recovery

Develop, select, tailor, and deploy software processes, tools and metrics
-
Serve as a subject matter expert for software domains, processes and system-specific issues
Minimum requirements for this position:
-
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
-
Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
-
Minimum of 8 years of software development experience
-
Previous experience in agile software development and as a software subject matter expert
-
Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with hands-off, remote management
-
Expert embedded C++ programing skills
-
Experience with multicore-processor architecture
-
Experience with embedded Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS) concepts, VxWorks and/or GreenHills and/or Real Time Linux
-
Experience with industry standard development processes NASA NPR-7150.2B/C and/or CMMI level 2/3

Experience on software safety and hazard analysis
These skills would be amazing:

At least 15 years of embedded programming
-
Master’s degree or PhD in a related field
-
Understand NASA cFS system and subsystems and have equivalent development experience on modular flight software architectures

Experience on SpaceWire (SpW) and/or Time Triggered Ethernet architectures
-
Experience on complex communication system design on Intellectual Property (IP), Council for Foreign and Defense Politics (CFDP) and Consultative Committee for Space Data System (CCSDS) protocols
-
Experience with large-scale satellite software development projects
Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:
$137,000.00 - $229,000.00 annually.
