Brightspeed has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Architect to join our team. As the Principal Architect on the Operations Support and Technology team, you will report directly to the Director of Technology. This role will be responsible for everything related to the design and architecture of the speed test. This role will own the design, architecture, implementation, health check, and enhancements required to ensure our customers get the most accurate results regarding the service they purchase from Brightspeed. This role will also be responsible for testing throughout our network, providing visibility to each segment of our network, and working to ensure our Operational teams have a valid, accurate way to prove speeds to the customer to make valuable dispatch decisions.

In this role your responsibilities will include the following:

• Responsible for creating the high-level design of the network speed test platform.
• Lead for any items related to speed test servers. The software loaded on the servers, using OOKLA, and all other protocols for testing speeds.
• Collaborate daily with our Metro, Transport, and Access Architects to drive cohesive solutions.
• This role will also “float” across projects across the Metro, Transport, and Access networks
• Serve as a subject matter expert on Speed Test throughout our network, working with senior executives as a trusted technical advisor.
• Provide weekly status updates Director and Governance team on each project being worked.

What IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent of 5+ years of telecom experience
• 3+ years of experience in a senior Architecture Role
• Thorough understanding and/or hands-on experience in Telecom service delivery standards
• Comprehensive knowledge of large data networks
• Working knowledge of speed tests (IPERF, TR143, OOKLA, etc.)
• Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts with strong presentation skills

BONUS POINT FOR:

• Master’s degree
• Telecommunication experience
• Knowledge of the Brightspeed Transport, Metro, and Access networks
• Any previous experience working with Speed Test platforms.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI
