- The Power Eng. is responsible for supporting general Facilities Engineering (FE) with Medium and Low voltage Electrical (I&E) project design, construction, commissioning, and startup activities in MCBU’s operational areas.
- Should support PM Engineers on new facility design and construction activities, including instrumentation, control, communications for well sites, medium and Low voltage electrical system designs, project cost and schedule management, facility construction, Factory and Site Acceptance Testing, I&E system commissioning and troubleshooting, facility startup, and project turnover activities to Operations.
- Technical discipline engineering responsible for the design, construction, commissioning, and startup activities of capital projects and system upgrades in electrical power generation, distribution systems, low voltage, and electrical machinery.
- Responsibilities may include mentoring electrical engineers and contractors, and Oversee technology development, including budgets and resource planning.
- Responsible for insuring well hook-up and Medium voltage electrical system design, installation, start-up, and commissioning are conducted in a safe and efficient manner. Works with the MCBU FE design teams to deliver seamless project construction work packages.
- Serve as the Electrical FE point contact for FE work within an assigned MCBU area.
- The role of the I&E Engineer will include but is not limited to:
- Developing wells and Power electrical discipline deliverables (e.g., control philosophies, Cause and Effects diagrams, P&IDs, area classifications drawings, load, and short circuit analysis)
- Delivery of I&E engineering construction work package Ensuring all vendor-supplied equipment packages meet the applicable instrument, control, and electrical specifications.
- Participating and contributing to safety reviews (HazOps, HazAn, LOPA, etc.), as applicable
- Managing multiple project schedules and costs
- Planning timely material deliveries.
- Designs, constructs, and modifies complex electrical systems and facilities such as: power distribution systems; complex electrical plans and schematics; large motors and variable speed drives; high voltage switch gear; protective relaying; power management; load shedding systems.
- Participates in design assurances and technical reviews.
- Creates and updates company and/or industry standards and best practices.
Qualification:
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering Required
- Quantified experience: Relevant coursework and work experience is essential. Working knowledge of short circuit calculations and similar/related studies
- Familiarity with standards from National Electrical Code (NEC), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and American National (ANSI)
- Proven experience with protective relays (differential protection, motor protective relays, transformer protection, feeder protection, ) and medium voltage protective devices
