Powder Coating Technician

Reports To General Manager

OT as needed

Position Summary

The Powder Coating Technician (powder booth and blast room) will be responsible for product and material flow through the finishing process, utilizing powder coat paint techniques and equipment, semi-automated wash bay and digital curing oven.

Primary Responsibilities

· Clean and prepare parts in manners such as sanding, priming and sandblasting, for powder coating applications

· Operate curing oven and wash bay

· Apply powder coat to parts using a hand-held Wagner powder sprayer

· Perform color changes and booth set up in a timely manner

· Transport finished and unfinished product to and from the work area using a forklift

· Perform work in adherence with quality standards

· Practice safe work habits, following safety guidelines with respect to operation and personal safety gear, and support safety initiatives

· Must have a valid driver’s license and transportation

Additional responsibilities:

· Clean and maintain spray booth, blast room and preparation area

· Participate in training sessions

· Other duties as directed

Qualifications

REQUIRED Experience

· Experience with powder paint application techniques and equipment

· Experience with curing oven operation

· Ability to read diagrams/prints

Education

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Ability to pass a mathematic assessment with a favorable score

Soft Skills

· Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment

· Strong attention to detail

Physical Demands/ Working Conditions

· Ability to lift up to 60 pounds repetitively and frequently, and up to 80 pounds occasionally without assistance or equipment at heights above or below shoulder heights

· Ability to perform tasks involving constant periods of standing

· Constant hand/eye coordination along with balance

· Frequent stooping and/or bending

· Frequently work in a high heat environment

· Frequently reach above or below shoulder heights

· Frequently wear a respirator

· Occasionally in contact with solvents that require specific PPE and labeling

· Ability to work 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour

Experience:

• Manual powder coating: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
