Operate pipelines remotely from Pipeline Control Center via SCADA System. Monitor pressures, flows, temperatures, tank levels and respond to alarms or any other abnormal condition that may exist. Responsible to the Shift Supervisor, Console Supervisor and/or Manager of Pipeline Control.
Responsibilities:
  • Control and Monitor Pipeline Operations - Start-up and shut down of pipeline; Maintain pressures, flow rates and tank levels within safe working limits; Track batches within pipelines to maintain product quality standards; Monitor line balance (Over/Short) to keep within tolerances; and Respond to alarms and/or other abnormal operating conditions per Operating Procedures.
  • Coordinate Operational Activities - Coordinate with field personnel on planned and unplanned maintenance; Coordinate with Pipeline Scheduler to effectively plan and develop the pipeline movements schedule; and Coordinate with other Pipeline Control Centers to safely execute the daily pipeline scheduling orders.
  • Complete Required Daily Paperwork - Complete line balance and batch tracking sheets at required intervals; Enter major events in pipeline log; Complete daily reconciliation reports as required; Transmit reports to field locations; Complete “Golden Hour” checklist at beginning of each shift; and Complete shift turnover checklist at end of each shift.
  • Complete Training as Required - Complete periodic refresher training related to pipeline basics and abnormal operating conditions, including: Ongoing Lessons Learned discussions and training; Emergency Response table-tops and notification drills; Required computer-based Quarterly Safety Training; Quarterly Safety Meetings; Annual Team Resource Management Training; Annual Fatigue Management Training: and Periodic (3 year) OQ Re-Qualification.
  • Respond to Emergency Situations - Take immediate actions to minimize the impact to people, property, and the environment per Emergency Operating Procedures.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Should possess strong math skills.
  • Should be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
  • Must be able to pass the Console Operator Basic Requirements Assessment test (COBRA).
  • Basic knowledge of pipeline equipment and operations is preferred.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment with minimal supervision.
  • Able to maintain professionalism during stressful situations.
  • Able to avoid distraction while focusing on safely executing required tasks.
  • Able to maintain alertness and manage fatigue during periods of reduced workload.
  • Able to communicate effectively during normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.

  • Able to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions during normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.
  • Able to effectively lead and direct others during normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.
  • Able to complete all required initial and ongoing training and successfully pass written, verbal, and practical evaluations to maintain individual Operator Qualifications.
  • Must be able to work a modified DuPont twelve-hour rotating shift schedule with minimal time away from the console to maintain a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year operation
