Emergency Department Pharmacy Technician Job Description:

The Emergency Department pharmacy technician works under the supervision of a pharmacist and assists in obtaining accurate home medication histories for admitted patients. In order to obtain home medication histories, the pharmacy technician will speak directly with patients, pharmacies, and other healthcare facilities, as well as work in the electronic medical record. Other duties include but are not limited to, assisting with delivery of timely medications from central pharmacy, managing inventory in the automated medication dispensing system, and process improvements as needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Requires high school diploma or GED. Requires a Pharmacy Technician License from the State of Michigan. As this position primarily consists of direct patient interaction involving medications, previous pharmacy or direct patient care experience is preferred. Must have the ability use a computer keyboard and type approximately 25 words per minute. Must be able to work with a wide variety of people under sometimes stressful situations, and be motivated to provide high quality patient care.

Job Type: Full-time
