Job description

• General description: Assist pharmacist in the processing, preparation, and distribution of medications, maintaining drug inventory, and maintaining patient and pharmacy records in a manner consistent with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as pharmacy policies and procedures.

• Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret medication orders, ensuring all information is accurate and complete
• Process and prepare/package medications, including those requiring special handling in accordance with safety measures
• Maintain drug inventory through routine inventory control practices

• Answer phone calls in a prompt and courteous manner

• Respond to the requests of patients and healthcare providers, answering their questions and referring appropriate inquiries to the pharmacist

• Complying with rules, regulations, and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy, such as by sterilizing equipment and surfaces
• Skills/Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Basic mathematics skills
• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Computer and typing skills
• Ability to operate equipment such as tablet counters and cash registers

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Organizational and time management skills
• Dependable team player
• Willingness to learn

• Preferred but not required: Current NJ pharmacy technician registration/licensure (may register upon employment)
