Summary:
The Payroll Clerk aids the Payroll Manager for the processing of payroll and maintenance of employee time records.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions,
- Verify hours worked and pay adjustments, and post information onto designated records,
- Keep track of leave time, such as vacation, personal, and sick leave, for employees,
- Keep informed about changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process,
- Prepare and file payroll tax returns,
- Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements,
- Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge,
- Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters, tax issues, and collective agreement provisions,
- Data entry into spreadsheets and the payroll system,
- Approve the online certified payrolls for our subcontractors,
- May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
- Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required,
- One year of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in payroll preferred,
- Knowledge of Vista Viewpoint is preferred,
- Proficient with Microsoft Office,
- Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred,
- Covid-19 is vaccination highly recommended,
- Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
