Perioperative Services strives to be the safest perioperative environment in the world, to have the highest quality of perioperative outcomes, and to demonstrate the core values in our vision. Partnered with Anesthesiology and Critical Care, the Division of Nursing and the Division of Surgery, this multidisciplinary team performs more than 15,000 surgical cases each year in more than 30 operating rooms spanning the Main Building and Mays Clinic.

The ideal candidate for the Patient Care Technician (PCT) will have a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of PCT experience. Current or prior MD Anderson Cancer Center experience is preferred. This person will work with the Inpatient Unit.

Shift: Monday - Friday 3pm - 11pm

a. Responsibilities include completion of routine or advanced patient care assignments as delegated.
b. Understands critical changes to patient status and reports concerns to appropriate nursing staff.
c. Works with multidisciplinary team members to identify and address patient care needs.
d. Effectively and professionally resolves conflict with team members, provides and receives timely feedback to ensure collaboration and positively impact patient care and patient satisfaction scores.
e. Participates in team and peer evaluations.
f. Demonstrates superior customer service in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.

Effective Communication:

c. Encourages patients in progression of wellness and promotes independence.

Work Environment and Systems

Work Environment:
a. Maintains environment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
b. Maintains unit and institutional competencies and adheres to legal and regulatory requirements.
c. Participates in unit projects focused on improving patient outcomes.

Systems:
a. Demonstrates knowledge and utilization of computers, equipment, and software programs to enter patient data, access information, and communicate with the multidisciplinary team.
b. Successfully complete required on-line training.
c. Demonstrate accountability by reviewing electronic/written communication from the Division of Nursing and MDACC.

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
