The Society of St. Vincent de Paul offers tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. This personalized involvement may take the form of intervention, consultation, or often through direct dollar or in-kind service. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Green Bay operates four thrift stores and a Resource Center to those in need in our community.

Currently, our Howard store has 2 part–time openings as:

Retail Sales/Cashier Associates

This position works closely with other team members to provide customers with a positive shopping experience at our stores in alignment with the mission of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. This position interacts with customers by determining their needs, answering their questions about our merchandise, making sales, and promptly resolving customer complaints while maintaining a tidy, stocked and organized sales floor. Based on the daily needs and goals for the store, the Retail Sales Utility Worker may work the sales floor, straighten or stock items, work as cashier or create new displays. There will be an opportunity as need to assist in the Donation area.

Donation Attendants

This position is responsible for processing donations for sale by accepting, preparing, organizing, transporting, cleaning, baling and disposing items, while providing excellent customer service and helping with the day-to-day operations, consistent with the mission and vision of St. Vincent De Paul. Based on the daily needs and goals for the store, a Donation Attendant may accept and process customer donations; load and unload cars/trucks; sort items for processing; bale or transport items within donation area/warehouse; and maintain the inside and outside of the donation area. This position is required to work indoors and outdoors in rain, cold and heat.

Part time positions are scheduled between 20 – 29 hours a week. Schedules available are Sunday 10a-6:15p, MonTues, & Wed 12p-6p and Wed, Thurs, Fri & Sat 1p-7p. Also based on store staffing needs, the opportunity to pick up other hours and are discussed at time of interview. These entry level positions may evolve into full time jobs or lead to other advancement for those employees who wish to grow with our stores.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of, or ability to learn, thrift store operations, POS and product value
• Have access to reliable transportation to ensure regular attendance

· Knowledge of, or ability to learn, SVdP policies and procedures

· Knowledge of principles or processes for providing effective customer service

· Skill in communicating effectively in English, in both written and verbal forms

· Skill in managing one’s own time to meet production goals

· Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

· Ability to communicate and interact effectively with team members, customers and managers

· Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure

· Ability to work a flexible schedule with changing priorities

· Physical condition adequate to permit full performance of duties

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 per hour
