Part Time Dietetic Technician
Job description
SUMMARY
Requires the ability to interact with Dietitians, Supervisors and Food Service staff as well as the Nursing staff in a professional manner. The Diet Technician will utilize computer program to process and update meal tickets for patients/residents and will accurately check the lunch trayline daily.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Able to describe all therapeutic diets in both Broadlawn and South Oaks diet manuals.
2. Can demonstrate working knowledge of computer systems utilized within the dietary department. Can explain the use, applications and benefits of these tools.
3. Able to effectively screen meal tickets according to dietary needs.
4. Can demonstrate ability to modify meals for renal and diabetic patiebts/residents based on ADA exchanges.
5. Gives accurate production counts to the cooks and special diet staff when needed.
6. Maintains good communication with dietitians regarding patients/residents dietary information.
7. Demonstrates ability to accurately check trays on the trayline.
8. Can explain nutritional needs throughout the lifecycle.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise food service employees during tray line meal service.

Ability to conduct oneself in a manner which conforms with the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable facility policy and procedures for patient confidentiality. Ability to conduct themselves in conformity with LIH Security policy and procedures.

Basic nutrition knowledge required, basic computer skills preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Dietetic Technician Registration preferred.
