Job description
This position's basic purpose is to maintain and improve interior and exterior structure and finishes facility wide. Provide a safe and clean-living environment. Duties include performing skilled painting, finishing and decorating of wood, metal and concrete surfaces of buildings and other structures, equipment, machinery, and furnishings at the facility; performs related work as required such as: Prepare new and old surfaces for finishing, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, sanding machines, dusters, washing compounds, and finish removers.
Putties, plasters or otherwise fills and repairs cracks and holes. Erects and removes ladders and scaffolding. Replaces broken glass in sashes and doors; removes putty or glazing compounds; caulks window frames, doorframes, and similar units. Prepares paints and allied products; matches colors; applies undercoats and finish coats to furnishings, machinery, equipment and exterior and interior surfaces of buildings and other structures; paints simple signs. Checks quality, quantity and condition of materials and equipment received. Performs other duties as assigned.

Under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS’s) new vaccine mandate for healthcare workers (published on November 5, 2021 and affirmed by the United States Supreme Court on January 13, 2022), all potential employees of this facility must have received, at a minimum, the first dose of a primary series or a single dose vaccine OR have an approved religious or medical exemption (as determined by the Iowa Veterans Home) OR have documentation reflecting a temporary delay in vaccination (as determined by the agency in accordance with CDC allowances), prior to the start date. Candidates shall coordinate with agency staff to ensure all requirements are met before the individual provides any care, treatment, or other services for the facility and/or its residents.
The equivalent of two years of full-time experience in skilled painting work;
