Job Description

Job Title: Packaging Technician

Reports To: VP of Operations

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Responsible for ensuring that kegs are cleaned properly and assists in packaging operations by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Primarily works on either canning line or keg washing/filling line depending on needs of the day.

2. Cleans the outside of kegs and removes debris and stickered keg collars.*

3. Ensures the keg wash machines are operational and have all necessary chemicals.*

4. Operates and monitors the keg wash machines during cleaning cycles.*

5. Ensures the kegs are cleaned and properly sanitized by monitoring pH and levels of caustic, acid, and sanitizer reservoirs.*

6. Places clean kegs on pallets for proper banding and puts away when complete.*

7. Fills kegs following Coronado Brewing’s standard operating procedures.*

8. Maintains a clean and safe working environment at all times.*

9. Assists on the canning line and with building mix packs.*

10. Safely operates forklift to unload trucks of material such as empty kegs, pallets of cans, equipment, glassware, and chemicals.*

11. Performs other related duties as assigned.*

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

*Essential Function

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Equipment:

  • Forklift

  • Ability to follow directions and work independently in a manner that will ensure the safety of the employee and team.
  • Understanding of cleaning and sanitation requirements in the food and beverage industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Organized and accurate record keeping.
  • Be able to operate a forklift, or become forklift certified within 30 days with training
  • Familiar with equipment such as a depalletizer, an ink encoder, canning line, pasteurizer, keg washer, pumps, etc.
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
