Altos Eye Physicians is a comprehensive ophthalmology practice and specializes in routine family eye care as well as complex medical and surgical eye diseases. We are seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Tech/Admin Assistant to help with patient care and basic bookkeeping. Must have basic knowledge of medical or vision insurance (PPO/HMO/VSP/Medicare, eligibility, coverage, etc.
The ophthalmic technician's primary responsibilities (this list may not include all of the duties assigned):
- Obtaining basic medical history information.
- Measuring each patient's visual acuity.
- Administering a wide array of diagnostic tests to determine the structure and function of each patient's eye.
- Our technicians will be trained to work closely with our patients to help educate them about the condition of their eyes as assessed by our ophthalmologists and optometrist and to counsel the patients on their options for vision correction.
- Preparing patients' medical records, working with patients' medical insurance plans, and scheduling.
Bookkeeping Duties (this list may not include all of the duties assigned):
- Provide customer service on the telephone and in the office for patients regarding patient accounts in accordance with practice protocol.
- Post payments, by line-item, received for physician’s professional services into Compulink software system including co-payments, insurance payments, and patient payments in accordance with practice protocol with an emphasis on accuracy to ensure maximum patient satisfaction and profitability.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a medical assistant program or prior medical office experience is preferred. Perfect opportunity for someone who is trying to expand, or jump start their clinical career as we will train the right fit.
- Must be available during normal business hours, Monday – Friday.
- Ability to accurately type a minimum of 40 WPM.
- Strong verbal and written communications, and active listening skills
- Solid patient/guest relations skills with the ability to communicate in a professional, courteous and efficient manner.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize task in order to complete assignments within the time allotted to maintain standard workflow.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member who is flexible, cooperative, and willing to assist others.
