Hennepin County District Court has an amazing opportunity to join the Family Court Domestic Abuse Team as a Court Operations Associate! This is a diverse, professional environment that promotes equity for all court staff and court users.
Court Operations Associates work individually and in teams using independent judgment along with available resources to perform a variety of administrative assignments. This role requires dedication to providing customers with a professional court experience, an eye for detail, excellent communication, time management, and technological skills to match our high-performance environment.
This AFSCME-represented position is assigned to the Family Division in court administration located in the administrative clerk's office (first floor, suite 100). The Family Justice Center is located at 110 South 4th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55401.
The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position to perform:
Initiate case records using electronic means or paper documents; record required data regarding parties and documents and other necessary information in the court management system.- Draft proposed orders for the Family Court Judicial Officers based upon filings from parties and attorneys. Process signed orders and send them out to be served by law enforcement.
- Produce court calendars and assist chambers the day of court.
- Collaborate with Judicial Officers, law clerks, the Domestic Abuse Service Center, law enforcement, and other justice partners and state agencies.
- Assist and communicate with court users in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner to ensure the customer's needs are effectively met in-person, over the phone, or through electronic means.
- Perform high-level case processing, data entry utilizing court technology systems.
- Review and process court filings for timeliness, statutory compliance, and proper document security as required by local and court-wide policies and procedures.
Below are the past experiences that will enable success in the role. For education requirements listed, the equivalent number of years of related experience may serve as a substitute. For example, if completion of a 4-year degree is listed below as a requirement, 4 years of related experience without a degree may be acceptable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- .High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of relevant job experience or greater, which may include but is not limited to customer service, administrative work, office, and clerical work. (For example: bank teller, cashier, court clerk, legal assistant, medical billing specialist).
- OR equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Paralegal, Associate, or Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in a legal setting such as a courtroom clerk or paralegal.
- Experience with document imaging, indexing, and working with cases/documents from electronic workflow queues.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to continuously learn and retain new material, concepts, and ongoing procedural changes.
- Well-organized and analytical.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to remain flexible, work well under pressure, and adapt to change in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with attorneys, business partners, court staff, judicial officers, and the general public.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other job-related software.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters and files appropriately and in compliance with all applicable court rules, policies and statutes.

LOGISTICS
Family Court is located in downtown Minneapolis at the Family Justice Center 110 South Fourth Street Minneapolis, MN 55401
Staff are working in a hybrid model. During the training period, for up to first 12 weeks this position will work onsite at the Family Justice Center. After the training period, there may be an option for hybrid work, depending on business needs. The core hours for this position are 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, and there is a rotation to occasionally work 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., depending on the assignment and operational needs.
SALARY RANGE
The expected starting salary for external candidates is $21.00 - $24.42 per hour, $43,848 - $50,988.96 annually. The offer will take into consideration other equivalent qualifications.
The full classification earning potential is $18.19 - $30.65 per hour, $37,980.72 - $63,997.20 annually, with the top end of the range being what someone could be making after years of service in the role of Court Operations Associate. This position is non- exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits.
