The Big Picture

Open Door Baptist Church (odbcmidland.com) is seeking a pastor to preach the Word of God, shepherd the church and reach the community for the glory of God.

The Church

Open Door Baptist Church is a congregation of saved, baptized believers associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel. It is an independent, fundamental Baptist Church, self-governing and supported by the tithes and offerings of church members and friends. The church sends monthly financial support to over 45 missionaries worldwide. The people of Open Door Baptist Church come from various backgrounds and experiences with the desire to serve and worship the Lord. Each has a ministry to one another and a responsibility to share the Gospel by serving in the multiple ministries of the church. We have a number of third generation family members.

The Candidate

The Pastor is the spiritual leader of the church. He is responsible to the Lord and the church to primarily proclaim the gospel and teach the Bible. He is to engage in pastoral care and to provide supervisory and administrative leadership in all areas of congregational care, including paid and volunteer staff.

Pastoral Requirements and Responsibilities

· Plan and conduct church services: prepare and deliver sermons and lead observances of the church by-laws.

· Lead the church in an effective evangelism program and in caring ministry for those in the church and the community.

· Lead an effective program of visiting the sick and shut-in members and prospects.

· Conduct counseling sessions

· Conduct funerals

· Perform biblical wedding ceremonies

· Lead the church in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating all church programs and ministries in conjunction with Deacon and Trustee boards.

· Act as moderator of church business meetings

· Work with Deacons, board of Trustees, Church Officers and committees as they perform their assigned duties.

Critical Qualifications

· Must be ordained (if not ordained must be ordained within 6 months to a year of hire date.

· Education: a minimum of an associate degree or equivalent from a bible college and 5 years experience in the ministry or a combination of education and experience.

· Must maintain a pulpit/teaching standard of KJV only.

· Must posses the following attributes; personal relationship with Jesus Christ, integrity, passion, vision, humility, fiscal responsibility, purpose driven, good communications skills, encourager, mentoring skills, peaceful, patient, a teacher, gentle, not quick tempered demonstrated perseverance.

· Must provide 5 references ie.. from a Pastor, Deacon, professor or some one who you have worked with, please state your relationship to them.

The Compensation

Total Compensation Range: $50,000 and $65,000 Depending on Experience
