JOB DESCRIPTION - NURSERY COORDINATOR

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
In partnership with the members, staff, and pastors of the church, the Nursery Coordinator identifies, meets, and nurtures the spiritual needs of nursery-age children.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Pray for the church.
2. Is responsible along with the Children’s Director for interviewing, hiring, training, and terminating nursery staff.
3. Develop personnel policies, disseminates policies to nursery personnel, and enforce policies for the nursery staff.
4. Adequately provide child supervision while remaining in compliance with Safe

Gathering’s policies.
5. Assist in teaching or finding others to teach the nursery Sunday school of those children three years old and under.
6. Assist the Children’s Director as necessary.
7. Assist the Children’s Director in maintaining staff records, including timesheets, applications, certifications, and personnel files.
8. Must be CPR and First Aid certified every two years and ensure the nursery staff is up to date as well on those certifications.
9. Maintain and ensure the safety and sanitation of equipment and toys both inside the nursery and on the outside playground.
10. Maintain nursery supplies and snacks.
11. Ensure that the nursery is comfortable and safe for children, staff, and parents.
12. Maintain nursery policies and is responsible for informing staff and parents of all policies.
13. Calculate work hours for nursery staff and provide the information to the Church Administrator.
14. Help the Children’s Director maintain current files with emergency medical information and consent forms for all children in the program. Ensure that all adult staff and volunteers have completed their Safe Gatherings training and are up to date with that training.
15. Work with the Children’s Director and the finance committee to ensure finances are available for training, supplies, toys, payroll, and fundraising.
16. Maintain contact with the children and their parents to cultivate a loving relationship.
17. Maintain close parental contact in order to maintain and foster communication and trust.
18. Work with the Building Committees, Trustees, and SPRC to advance the nursery, help design future improvements, and maintain personnel issues and building needs.
19. Work with the Children’s Director and Administrative Council to add any new programs in the nursery.
20. Be a change agent and readily adaptable.

LEVELING REQUIREMENTS
This position is responsible for supervising nursery staff personnel.

EDUCATION
Some College or vocational education after high school is recommended.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
Must have a minimum of two years of experience in an early childhood environment. The Nursery Coordinator must have Bible knowledge and be firmly grounded in the purpose of God’s church. Must be a dedicated Christian leader. Must have good organizational skills, facilitation skills, and communication skills. Must have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize, and delegate as needed. Must be an enthusiastic team player. Must be proficient in computer skills including, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, etc. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, as this is a highly relational position.
Must be able to pass a Criminal Background check.
Must be a good listener.
Must be able to adapt quickly to change.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to type, communicate verbally on the phone and in person, have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, sit for prolonged periods of time, and walk for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to stoop, kneel and crouch. Must be able to climb. Must be able to reach up or down. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

COMPENSATION
The nursery director will be paid $20 an hour

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour
