Verizon Business Product Organization provides product management and architecture expertise across a multi-vendor, multi-tower, and complex portfolio of products and services in support of our Verizon Business Group (VBG) customers. Our customers rely on our ability to create and maintain new products, platforms, and services. As the Sr. Quality Solutions Testing Engineer, you will help our Engineering Team to define, implement, and measure the best practices to ensure that our MEC platforms provide value to our customers by delivering highly reliable, reproducible, and defect free network transports, software, and workflows. You will help achieve this by working with our Quality Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Software & Network (wireline & wireless) Engineers to both setup new testing frameworks and refine automated testing. Your efforts will help guide the Engineering teams to ensure that the customer requirements are constantly met and refined with higher quality software and delivery requirements. Responsibilities: • The QS Testing Engineer is responsible for day-to-day operations of all lab equipment and facilities including user support, software updates, hardware maintenance, inventory control, standards adherence and general lab upkeep. Thorough understanding of lab infrastructures, hands on, working knowledge with copper/fiber cabling, rack and stack and configuration of multi-vendor, multi-platform telecommunications devices will ensure that you are able to adapt quickly to changing requirements to support wireline and wireless test cases. Experience with communication provider technologies and services is preferred. • QS Testing Engineer to support the provisioning of features, performance, operations and production testing of a multi-tenant, high performance network platform, to include wireless devices and radio antenna receivers. • Execute network routing programs across cloud and virtualization architectures in a manner which demonstrates command of transports, frameworks and architecture principles. In this role the individual will support the testing of wireless & wireline equipment and configurations to validate functional capabilities and performance of network and secure designs before deployment to the MEC & Wireless production environments. • Development of test plans and test procedures that identify the requirements and methodologies necessary for product success. Provide the ability to derive the insight which leads to new testing scenarios not previously conducted which enhance and expand a product leading to the introduction of new features. Write the reports and documentation supporting the results of the tests. • The individual will be supporting lab environments that are replicas of wireline datacenters and wireless radio production environments. The QS Testing Engineer will implement the lab network and wireless devices to reflect the production environment and test equipment and configurations to validate equipment performance. The individual will be developing test plan documents that identify the testing requirements, scenarios, methodologies and configurations to be tested. The individual will configure all lab associated equipment, run the tests and document the results of the testing in a testing summary document. • The individual will additionally be responsible for testing specific customer wireline use cases within the lab environment to determine the ability of supporting the use cases over a wireless production environment. • The individual will also be responsible for identifying hardware, software and tools requirements needed to enhance ongoing testing and verification cycles, to include the creation of a bill of materials associated with annual testing budget. • Utilize understanding of network and security protocols and concepts include IP routing, BGP, Quagga, VLAN, VxLAN, authentication, access control, audit, configuration management, patch management, vulnerability management and asset management. The individual should have a strong background working with IPSec, SSL, PKI, key management, Physical Security, Network Security, Correlation Tools, Vulnerability Scanning Tools and Information Assurance. What we’re looking for... You’ll need to have: • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience. • Six or more years of relevant work experience. Event better if you have: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related technical discipline. • 10 or more years of direct relevant network engineering design/lab engineering or operational experience. • Experience with racking new equipment with structured fiber and copper cabling, cable termination, cable management, and adherence to guidelines for maintaining clean cable runs • Experience maintaining lab infrastructure including: user databases, software repositories, network infrastructure, server infrastructure, and associated applications • Knowledge of essential networking protocols and skills. To include: Linux host-based firewalls, Netfilter, Iptables, Policy-Based Routing (conntrack) etc. • Experience applying and configuring open source software in Linux infrastructures. Which could include: cron, , dhcpd, httpd, ipsec, iptables, kmod, mon, mysqld, network, nfsd, ntpd, snmpd, sshd, systemd, syslog, vncserver, and other 3rd party service technologies. • Knowledge of essential networking troubleshooting skills. Regardless of packet capture tools (tcpdump, Wireshark etc.) you are able to interpret and properly analyze packet captures to resolve traffic and program related issues. • Knowledge of data plane acceleration, could include fastpath, DPDK, OvS, DPI, Offloading techniques. • Engineering experience across a plethora of vendors and associated technologies which could include: Routing, Switching, VPN, OpenSSL, Certificates, SD-WAN optimization, Wi-Fi, and 4G/5G cellular. • Knowledge of public and private cloud, virtualization, orchestration, and managed services which could include: Openstack, AWS, SDN, NFV, VIM, Kubernetes, Openshift, 4G/5G vRAN & EPC. • Strong Knowledge of IP based protocols such as SMTP, TCP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, DTLS and configuration management protocols NETCONF, RESTAPI etc. • Experience with video streaming systems using RTSP for IoT, VMS, Computer Video or Content Delivery Networks. • Experience testing REST API using curl. • Experience in next-generation technologies including: Zero Trust, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Software Defined Networking (SDN), Industrial IoT (IIoT), Multicloud, and/or Multi-access Edge Compute (MEC), particularly in a Managed Services (MSP) or Telecommunications/Service Provider setting. • The candidate must be self-motivated, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
