Job Summary:
The Motor Vehicle Mechanic Helper performs a variety of tasks such as but not limited to: washing, cleaning, and lubricating vehicles; loading, unloading, and storing automotive parts and supplies; and maintaining work areas.
Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of tasks associated with the performance of maintenance on military equipment and supplies. Duties may include but are not limited to washing, cleaning, and lubricating vehicles. Load, unload, and store automotive parts and supplies. Maintain work areas to ensure a safe work environment.
- Performs apprentice maintenance, repair, and modification functions under the general supervision of senior team members on common vehicle and vehicle equipment.
- Installation or removal of access panels, components, and accessories, washing and cleaning of contract units and other non-complex duties. Assist with checking and replacing components, batteries, and tires.
- Adhere to safe work practices on the various contract units and components involved.
- Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling very heavy parts and loads. Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, and reach as required to work on equipment.
- Maintains tools and equipment and cleans work areas to maintain a safe work environment. Be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions when necessary.
- Ensure that all tasks are performed safely and meet Government/Army standards when applicable.
- Wearing safety items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) e.g., gloves, safety shoes, protective eyewear, hearing protection, and other items such as aprons or outerwear as appropriate.
- Employee is required to maintain a valid state-issued Driver’s license and applicable Government/Army license.
- Perform other duties as required to support the mission and contractual requirements.
- Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs.; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting; and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to the weather. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to, head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices.
- Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to complete and prioritize tasks on multiple concurrent projects within given timeframes.
- Work well in a team environment and able to work with a diverse group of people.
- Discretion and trustworthiness due to frequent contact with confidential material.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and all others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must possess a working knowledge of the appropriate tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks as well as have knowledge of standardized maintenance regulations – specifically DA Pam 750-8, Functional User’s Manual for The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS) and AR 750-1, Army Material Maintenance Policy.
High School Diploma or GED certificate.
Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach and walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in all types of weather.
Completed prerequisite training for any Army Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 91 series, Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent training/experience.
