Pay Range: Starting pay is $21.00 (Based pay $18.50 + $2.50 Locale Differential = $20.00) and ranges up to $22.11 per hour which includes a $2.50 locale differential at our Durango worksites and considers preferred experience and preferred education described below.


This position also includes an additional locale differential of $2.50 per hour

Location: Durango, CO


The Monitoring Lead is responsible for the maintenance, development, execution, and improvement of the drug and alcohol monitoring program across Axis Health System. Various duties including the oversight of the monitoring program which encompasses the collection, processing, reporting, and recording of urinalysis (UA), breathalyzer, and collection of testing samples. Administrative functions in this role include but are not limited to direct communication and relationship building with community partners, stakeholders, and clients; management of reports and records; billing audits and reconciliation; and staff training and support.


Supervisory responsibilities: No


Physical demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between AHS locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. AHS may make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous Drug and Alcohol Monitoring experience.
  • Previous employment in a Withdrawal Management setting.

  • Must be knowledgeable regarding patient health information and HIPAA compliance.
  • Must be organized and demonstrate the ability to follow guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be self-directed.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow the organization’s confidentiality and security rules.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of AA/NA very helpful.
  • A high degree of emotional maturity and the ability to maintain a level of courtesy and professional decorum in adverse circumstances.
  • Need to possess good communication skills and ability to provide constructive feedback to other staff.
  • Must have basic math skills and basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Competent in resolving patient balances including written and verbal communication.
  • Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include MS Teams, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Internet Access, and Electronic Health Records.
  • Ability to follow established universal precautions and report potential exposure to a communicable disease immediately.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including calculator, copy machine, fax, and multi-line telephone. Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes-hectic environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Must have current driver’s license and ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with AHS commercial insurance agency.
  • Travel across the 5-county region is required.
  • Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
