Position Summary:

The Mobile Injection nurse provides comprehensive medication administration services to patients undergoing treatment requiring medication injections at home (IVF therapy, gender reclassification, low blood count, cancer treatment patients). This nurse will also need to understand the IVF process and treatments, Procrit, Lupron therapy, and gender reassignment therapy, and be able to educate and support the patients and their families during the injection appointment.

Key Responsibilities:

Bring services to the patient location, prepare and administer medications.

Patient education and support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. General knowledge of various medical procedures, views, and equipment.

    • Ability to use Point of Care Testing (POCT) for hemoglobin/hematocrit check.

  • Competent and validated in basic Nursing skills:

    • Perform intake and baseline assessment, to include vital signs as needed, of all clients before administering treatments

  • Demonstrate proficiency in medication handling, dosage, and administration with minimal oversight

  • Maintain excellent knowledge of products and services in order to understand and educate/serve the clients’ and/or families’ needs

  • Ability to travel to the patient’s location to provide services.

  • Ability to communicate with patients and significant others in an effective, mature, caring manner.

  • Ability to interpret positive, negative and inconclusive results, and enter said results with great attention to detail into EMR systems.

  • Must have the ability to function independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team; ability to exercise independent, sound nursing judgment in planning and providing patient care.

  • Must be able to recognize unsafe or emergency situations and act appropriately.

    • Recognize and respond to potential medical emergencies related to allergies, anaphylaxis, respiratory difficulties, and other medical emergencies as they arise.

  • Knowledge of basic safety and infection control principles. Ability to follow infection control guidelines.

  • Must be able to meet company productivity standards as indicated by organization and manager.objectives and to effectively solve unique problems as they arise or identify when to consult a supervisor.

  • Maintain a positive and professional image and demonstrate self-directed learning to meet professional development and/or license requirements.

  • Must be able to deal with a challenging work environment with time demands and occasional conflicting priorities.

  • Is responsible for maintaining all required licensure and certifications.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Active and current Nursing License (LVN or RN) in the state of California

  • Minimum one (1) year clinical experience preferred

    • At least 6 months of clinical experience required

  • Graduate from accredited registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse program

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

  • Exude a high level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Must be willing to initiate tasks and perform duties without direction.

  • Must be able to handle a very fast paced mobile, and challenging environments; able to step in to help wherever it is needed.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or patients, center staff, and the general public.

  • Familiar with or able to become familiar with computer software programs such as G-Suite, PrimaryBio, O365, & Electronic Medical Records systems

  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid California Driver’s License, and proof of liability and property damage insurance on the vehicle used is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • This is a mobile role, frequent travel to and between job sites is required

    • Ability to be scheduled consistent hours is dependent upon your ability to work in various locations surrounding the Bay Area, specifically San Francisco, San Mateo,Contra Costa, Santa Clara, and Alameda Counties

    • To remain in an active status, the position requires a minimum of 1 fee for service per week

  • Ability to have flexible hours based on patient’s needs.

    • Working days are variable (days and evenings)and offered seven (7) days a week (including weekends).

    • Hours and days may vary depending on patient and operational needs.

    • There are frequent after hours calls related to this type of contractual work.

  • Light to moderate lifting (up to fifty pounds) is required.

Compensation:

  • RN’s - $60 - $65 per appointment

  • LVN’s - $50 - $55 per appointment

  • Plus Mileage
