OVERVIEW:

The Village Community Presbyterian Church in Ranch Santa Fe, CA, is seeking to hire a Missions Director. The position requires a candidate with strong strategic leadership skills, implementing their long-term vision of missions by building upon the values of the Village Church. I. PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To equip and support the Mission Commission by providing strategic and operational direction to ensure effective and efficient collaboration with our core and validated global and local partners. To engage in a program of mission interpretation and education for the entire congregation.

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the coordination, and oversight of programs and activities within the Mission Commission. Responsibilities include setting goals and objectives, overseeing program activities, evaluating results, provide strategic direction, and providing general guidance to the Mission Commission
• Coordinate with the Mission Elders on matters concerning policies, plans, budgeting, expenditures, meeting agendas, and overall activities of the Mission Commission.
• Plan, manage and maintain the budget and expenses for the Mission Commission
• Provide direction and oversight to our annual mission centered congregation-wide events, such as but not limited to, Christmas in July, Alternative Christmas Market, and Homeless Veteran Initiative. Ensure congregational participation is effective, and the event teams are prepared and operate effectively.
• In coordination with the Mission Elders, develop and direct the activities of the Commission so they are effective in contributing to the overall Strategic Plans of the Village Church.
• Assess congregational engagement and planning around new mission strategies in line with changing times, world conditions, and opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus. The Director and the Mission Commission will assess at least annually the overall blend of mission ministries, regions, and service groups represented.
• Oversee administration of mission trip policies and procedures as set by the Mission Commission. Provide guidance to the teams, lay leaders, and mission trip participants that flow from these mission partnerships. Guide mission trip leaders in establishing goals and parameters for each mission trip.
• In coordination with the Mission Commission and its Elders, develop and/or implement policies, procedures, and programs for the on-going spiritual and leadership formation of mission trip team leaders and ministry lay leaders.
• Develop, manage, and maintain communication materials for the Mission Commission.
• Work collaboratively with pastoral and program staff.

III. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent education.

Experience:

• Have proven experience developing strategies and implementing the plans for those strategies through individuals and teams.
• Be a clear communicator, both verbally and in writing.
• Be able to work collaboratively with staff and lay leadership.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills.
• Maintain a cooperative team spirit and an attitude of genuine caring for all church personnel, members, non-members, volunteers, and others who associate with the church.
• Maintain a positive attitude and poise under pressure.

The incumbent shall, in word and action, demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and a dedication towards equipping the church to live out His Great Commission and Great Commandment

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
