Davidson is seeking a Missile Modeling System Engineer 2 in Colorado Springs, CO.

Job Duties:

  • The Threat Modeling Center is responsible for the development and delivery of high fidelity threat modeling products in support of MDA and MDA’s Ballistic Missile Defense System
  • The Missile Modeling Engineer role serves as a developer and verifier of kinematic threat models developed to support MDA
  • This position requires a detail-oriented entry-level engineer responsible for developing high fidelity ballistic missile and advanced threat models for use in a variety of modeling and simulation tools/framework/media
  • Must have a good understanding of modeling and simulation methods and processes
  • Must be able to research, interpret and verify parameters required to build, replicate and propagate missile or space launch trajectories to include staging, debris, counter measures and RV / payload traits
  • Must be able to apply standard engineering and mathematical algorithms to ensure the accurate portrayal of expected missile or space launch behavioral characteristics during all phases of powered and un-powered flight
  • The selected individual must be able to work with little or no direct supervision, work as an integral member of a product delivery team, and meet time critical delivery schedules

Requirements:

  • Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or related discipline, 2 years related experience; 0 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
  • Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or related discipline, 5 years related experience; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
  • Programming background to include languages such as MATLAB and Python
  • Strong knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, and performance of ballistic missiles
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic team environment.


Desired Competencies/Experience/Certifications:

  • Strong math, physics or engineering background is preferred
  • Modeling, Simulation, and automation experience
  • Previous experience with modeling flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and missile performance parameters of ballistic missiles is highly desirable
  • Strong background in missile system engineering performance is highly desirable
  • Mastery of engineering modeling principles behind body motion, trajectory generation, counter measures, and debris is a plus
  • Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret Clearance

Clearance Requirements:
Must have or be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
