Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Millwright to join our team at the Cedar Bayou Facility.

Responsibilities

  • Identification of millwright hand tools and the use of them
  • Ability to work with people and use exemplary communication skills
  • Ability to perform all jobs listed at journeyman level
  • Self-sufficient and independent in all job functions
  • Able to take the lead on jobs requires precision work to be done
  • Ability to use power tools related to the Millwright craft
  • Ability to perform basic rigging
  • Ability to overhaul pumps, turbines, centrifugal compressors, and reciprocating compressors

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Demonstrate ability to install mechanical seals and verify by seal drawing correct installation
  • Ability to do face and rim alignment, Reverse alignment, and laser alignment
  • Basic understanding of mechanical seals
  • Identification of different bearing types, bearing use, proper installation of bearings, and bearing application
  • Proper use of a torch
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and field drawings at an advanced level
  • Serve as a site SME’s in various aspects of their craft, must show the ability and willingness to act as a step-up supervisor in the absence of the Craft Lead
  • Serve as mentors for lower level peers, giving feedback to supervision in relation to progression requirements and field performance
  • Will take lead roles during turnarounds and outages and may be required to supervise contractors

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 5+ years of related experience troubleshooting and repairs of centrifugal, reciprocating, and other turbo machinery equipment
  • Proficient use and selection of precision machinist tools
  • Ability to prioritize work to align with goals and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of safety issues in a hazardous environment
  • Ability to work overtime hours, rotating schedule and give call-out rotation support
  • Proficient at blueprint reading, planning, and organizing job functions
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and product manuals to repair equipment
  • Ability to operate a forklift, JLG, or other motorized equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Compressor valve/high-pressure packing repair/mechanical experience
  • Experience with the repair of Valves Actuators to include Pneumatic piston
  • Experience with Steam Turbines
  • Experience with multi-stage pumps (either horizontal or vertical)
  • Prior failure mode analysis training
  • Computer Skills (SAP, MS Word & Excel, database experience)
