Men and Boys Coordinator

Status: Full-time, non-exempt, temporary

Salary: $21/hour

Location: Home office, St. Paul, MN

Reports to: Prevention and Social Change Manager

Position overview

Located in the Twin Cities Metro Area, MN, this position is responsible for facilitating safe spaces and training opportunities that meet the needs of men and boys in the Latin@ community, including the efficient operation of all community-based initiatives.

Esperanza United mobilizes Latinas and Latin@ communities to end gender-based violence. Formerly Casa de Esperanza, Esperanza United was founded in 1982 by a small group of persevering Latinas as an emergency shelter in St. Paul, Minnesota. We continue to ground our work in community strengths and wisdom, as we serve Latin@s locally and nationwide.

Core responsibilities

Lead and co-facilitate healthy masculinity circles for men and boys in the Twin Cities.

Lead and coordinate participation and outreach in community events in Dakota County and surrounding areas.

Maintain an open group for men and boys to include training in the areas of leadership, healthy masculinity, domestic violence, mental health, teen dating violence, sexual exploitation, and all its intersections.

Be responsible for the ongoing planning and facilitation of the boys’ leadership group at Independent School District 196 with the support of the engaging men and boys program specialist.

Be responsible for supporting ongoing planning and facilitation of the healthy masculinity leadership collaboration with Men as Peace Makers.

Collaborate with the youth specialist/coordinator to plan and implement the youth conference and boys’ camp.

Support prevention and social change manager to ensure learning across all the
Amig@s program activities (girls, boys, women, and men).

Host, facilitate, or integrate participatory, interactive activities for men and boys with the engaging men and boys program specialist.

Support the men and boys group in implementing their individual or group action projects (one or two action projects per fiscal year).

Promote and implement Te Invito and NO MÁS campaign tools.

Work with the prevention and social change evaluation manager to effectively document key learning and project successes.

Provide bi-weekly update reports, including data collection from project partners to the prevention and social change team at team meetings, and be responsible for providing and managing data collection for the quarterly and year end reports.

Support the prevention and social change manager in identifying and building stronger connections with schools and other community organizations, including identifying new sites and opportunities for men’s and boys’ engagement.

Support building strong connections between other organizational initiatives (family advocacy, training and technical assistance, etc.). This may include participation in and support of podcasts, webinars, and other learning opportunities related to men and boys engagement work.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and experience
› BA/BS in human services or related field.

Minimum of three years working with the Latin@ community and facilitating groups.

Knowledge of domestic violence prevention

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and abilities

Previous experience facilitating men’s groups or community circles.

Knowledge of mental health and suicide prevention preferred.

Previous experience in youth development preferred.

Knowledge of the Latin@ community. Bi-cultural experience preferred.

Ability to listen and resolve conflicts effectively.

Ability to manage multiple priorities to ensure meeting deadlines.

Knowledge of and ability to use computers and other technical resources to effectively accomplish work including Zoom, Teams, and Adobe Connect.

Ability to travel to various locations in and outside of Minnesota for regular meetings or events and work weekends or evenings as needed.

A valid driver’s license and adequate automobile insurance.

CPR certified preferred.
