Responsibilities
Wellstar Medical Group is seeking a board certified Anesthesiologist to join our Anesthesia team in a leadership role as the Medical Director of Anesthesia at Wellstar Health System.
This role will be expected to practice partially in a clinically role as an Anesthesiologist at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Kennestone is a 633-bed, level 2 trauma center located in Marietta, GA approximately 45 minutes northwest of the city of Atlanta. Our inpatient Anesthesia team is comprised of approxmately 30 Anesthesiologist and 75 Anesthetist working in a supervision model providing anesthesia for the main OR, trauma, L&D, Cardiac, GI, VI, an outpatient surgery center, a smaller community hospital about 20 minutes north of Kennestone, and an outpatient orthopedic hospital in Marietta.
As the Medical Director of Anesthesia, some of the physician leader's responsibilities will include:
Serving as a leader and role model for physician peers and APPs, and participate in annual staff evaluations as appropriate. Managing and faciliting effective two-way communication between physicians and WMG leadership on issues including, but not limited to, resources needed to satisy patient needs and procedure volumes, physician needs and concerns, strategic direction, quality standards, and budget imperatives.
Participate in review of, and assist in establishing practice site policies, procedures, standard orders, best practice guidelines and protocols. Act as a resource for and communicate with clinical and administrative staff.
Participate in the development and ongoing management of performance data. Actively participate in the sourcing, recruitment, orientation and mentoring of new physicians and advanced practitioners, including initial chart review of new providers as requested. Make customer service and patient satisfaction a priority and communicate this to the practice, colleagues and staff.
Participate in and attend departmental and regional meetings as requested. Meet on an as needed basis with WMG leadership to review and discuss items such as Anesthesia strategic planning, clinical protocols, patient tracking reports, performance improvement activities, clinical outcome metrics, physician and APP dashboards, marketing and recruitment as well as new program initiatives.
Involvement with Quality improvement including direct the monitoring of clinical outcomes and operational performances of practice sites on a periodic basis, direct performance improvement and resource management issues, direct periodic reviews of data, establish clinical and operational goals and participate with practice site managers in service recovery to resolve patient complaints in real time.
Partcipate in strategic planning for Anesthesia in connection with Wellstar Health System's overall strategic plan for providing world class health care to our community.
Qualifications
Candidates must be board certified in Anesthesia and must have leadership experience within Anesthesia in a hospital or health system setting.
