Summary:
Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain vital signs and current medication information from patients, perform standard electrocardiogram (EKG) testing and treadmill stress tests according to established standards and practices, Holter/King of Hearts placement and refills. Travel to other locations may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate to patients and co-workers friendliness and courtesy, professional behavior, sense of caring, cooperation between departments and follow through to ensure that Cardiac Study Center’s mission of providing patient focused, state of the art, comprehensive care is ensured.
- Perform Treadmill stress tests on patients under the direction of a Physician. (PSR region only)
- Perform EKGs on patients according to established procedures and protocols.
- Attach Cardiac Event Monitors to patients and provides instruction on proper care and use.
- Educate patients on proper usage of Cardiac Event Monitors.
- Check blood pressure of patients when needed.
- Escorts patients to exam rooms and treadmill area and prepare patients for examination. Assists patients in wheelchairs with transfers to and from exam tables and weigh scales utilizing proper body mechanics and safety measures.
- Document patient medications and vitals into EMR/EPIC
- Maintains log for incoming and outgoing monitors.
- Check Clinical areas and rooms for malfunctioning equipment. Reports findings to team leader and or manger to arrange repair.
- Order, stock, and maintain exam rooms and clinical areas with standard levels of supplies, linen, and equipment.
- Ensure that needles and needle containers and potential infectious waste are appropriately disposed and removed from the clinic and exam area according to company infectious control guidelines.
- Travel to other clinics may required based on business need
- Act as a resource and preceptor for Medical Assistants in training
- Perform other work related duties as required or requested.
- Fax chart notes and results to referring physicians.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
Certificates and Licenses:
MA Certification by an approved state or national examination agency. Must have current certification in CPR.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software and previous utilization of one of the various Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. Experience with EPIC is a plus.
A criminal background check and drug screening will be performed upon acceptance of offer of employment.
