Position Summary: The Wound Care Tech supports and facilitates the treatment and healing of patients under the direction and supervision of the Wound Care certified Nurse Practitioner and Nurse. Part time with the potential of full time.
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs patient care as directed and within training provided (e.g., removes dressings, applies topical therapies, application of wound dressings)
- Utilizes both clean and sterile technique for assisting with wound care procedures
- Understands and applies wound healing principles
- Knowledgeable of advanced wound care products and technologies according to department protocols and clinician direction and demonstrates ability to apply them appropriately
- Performs intake process as specified by provider
- May include chief complaint, history, vital signs, height, weight, OFC, care process model data, etc.
- Provides patient instruction and care as directed
- Reports changes in patient condition or other pertinent patient information to the provider or nursing staff
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives
- Assists patients with questions, directions, coordinating transportation, scheduling follow-up appointments, or arranging appointments with referral providers when needed
- Recognizes and appropriately responds to emergency situations
- Maintains inventory of supplies by ordering and restocking as needed to ensure availability for patient care
- Utilizes computer applications as needed
- Accurately documents patient history, physical, and vital information into the medical record
- Ensures orders for home health, durable medical equipment (DME), skilled nursing facility (SNF), etc. are completed and communicated appropriately
- Assigns appropriate procedural and diagnostic coding under the direction of the provider and facilitates timely billing by completing necessary documentation
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
Qualifications: CNA or MA Certifications required Current certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in state of practice, or Current certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) in state of practice
